The Election Commission Chairman visited Suphanburi to observe the election of SAO chiefs and council members, encouraging citizens to vote actively to elect capable local executives and council members who will develop their communities and the country.
On 11 January 2026, Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chairman of the Election Commission, accompanied by Ms. Nathinan Srilasak, expert advisor to the chairman, Police Lieutenant Colonel Rapeepong Jiraphatnalak, contractual staff, and Mr. Somkiat Khongdee, secretary to the chairman, and their team, visited to observe the elections of Subdistrict Administrative Organization council members and chiefs, which were held simultaneously nationwide today.
The Election Commission Chairman inspected polling stations in Sanam Chai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Suphanburi Province, including Wat Laothong and Wat Sanam Chai polling stations, as well as Wat Thammongkhon polling station in Phai Khwang Subdistrict. He was welcomed by Mr. Natthapong Sanguanjit, Governor of Suphanburi; Mr. Komkrit Tipsomboon, Director of the Suphanburi Provincial Election Commission Office; Police Major General Watcharin Prasopdee, Commander of Suphanburi Provincial Police; and Mr. Sitthiporn Khonghom, District Chief of Mueang Suphanburi. The chairman observed the opening of polling stations, the readiness of election committee members, procedures facilitating voters, and reminded officials to perform their duties carefully, with integrity, fairness, and in accordance with the law.
Mr. Narong stated that the Election Commission Office has continuously prepared for the SAO elections through rehearsals at both central and regional levels and training for officials and polling committee members to ensure the elections run smoothly. Election commissioners and the secretary have divided responsibilities for field inspections and encouraging election staff. He also invited the public to exercise their voting rights actively, emphasizing that local elections are important as citizens have the closest relationship with local executives. Electing good local leaders will help develop both the community and the country.
Regarding the general election for Members of Parliament scheduled for 8 February, the Election Commission Chairman said it follows closely after the local elections by only one month. He noted that while the parliamentary election and the referendum are different, both hold great importance. He urged citizens to participate fully in both the election and the referendum, as these activities demonstrate the people's rights, and the public understands well the benefits of voting for the nation.
