Phiphat inspects the Pattani gas station arson and bombing, assures 100% government compensation, opens opportunity for those with differing ideologies to negotiate, noting that Anutin's government is open and seeks peace.
At 11:00 a.m. on 11 Jan 2026, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, serving as Chairman of the Emergency Situation Administration Committee (ESAC) and Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council (NSC), accompanied by Mrs. Patima Sadeyamu, Governor of Pattani Province, visited the site to follow up on the arson and bombing at the PTT Bana gas station in Mueang Pattani District. This was one of several incidents occurring in the three southern border provinces on the night of 10 Jan.
Upon arrival, Police Major General Santhat Chueaputtan, Commander of Pattani Provincial Police, reported on the incident and spoke with affected business operators. Mr. Phiphat then stated that fortunately there were no injuries from the PTT Bana explosion, but the gas station sustained considerable damage. Authorities are currently collecting evidence to investigate and identify the perpetrators.
Regarding compensation, the province and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) will provide 100% support to the victims. Therefore, affected parties are assured on this matter. He also offered encouragement to the victims to remain resilient. On whether the perpetrators will be condemned, Deputy Prime Minister Phiphat said he prefers to appeal for peace, since businesses have suffered losses. If possible, he urged people to come negotiate with the government. The government has established a committee for dialogue, and he will strive to find solutions together. He emphasized that the best approach is dialogue with all parties to reach a resolution.
“I kindly ask friends who may hold differing ideologies to send letters or contact the government, as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, or I, am ready to sit down and talk with all parties because we are an open government seeking peace.”
Mr. Phiphat added that all mistakes over the past several years should prompt all parties to come together for discussion to find the best solutions aligned with their goals. He reaffirmed that peace and order are valuable as they help improve the economy and development of the southern border provinces.
