The National Security Council (NSC) issued a statement urging those responsible for bombings and arson attacks on gas stations in the three southern border provinces to stop immediately, while communicating to the BRN group that the Thai government does not accept violence that disrupts the lives of the people.
11 Jan 2026 GMT+7 The National Security Council (NSC) issued a statement regarding the attacks on fuel service stations in the southern border provinces. It noted that on 11 Jan 2026, there were attacks on 11 gas stations in these areas. The NSC views these actions as causing widespread impact on the safety and normal lives of the people there. Moreover, it damages the peaceful coexistence atmosphere that people of all ethnicities and religions desire.
The NSC therefore calls on the perpetrators to immediately cease their actions, as these acts cannot be justified as tools to gain legitimacy or demands. On the contrary, these actions negatively affect the lives of local residents. This demonstrates that the perpetrators lack legitimacy to represent the people of the area. The NSC, as a policy-level agency, places the highest priority on policies related to protecting the safety and property of people in the southern border provinces. Moving forward, the NSC will closely supervise and monitor the implementation of these policies, alongside supporting relevant agencies to swiftly bring offenders to justice.
. Additionally, the NSC remains firmly committed to a peaceful approach through peace talks. On the morning of 11 Jan 2026, following the incident, the NSC, as secretariat of the peace negotiation committee, communicated to the BRN group as a negotiating partner via Malaysian facilitators, reaffirming the Thai government's position of rejecting violence that undermines the lives of the people. This is because such violence contradicts the principles of the peace process and the success of establishing peace centered on the people in the region.
