“Wiroj” dismisses Cambodia’s attempt to provoke election outcomes, stating that modern warfare requires the military to procure weapons in a centralized manner. He warns that Thailand faces a “hybrid war” and insists on developing the national defense industry.
On 12 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, leader of the Prachachon Party, responded to Senior Cambodian Minister Kaew Remy’s statement urging Thai voters to support the Prachachon or Pheu Thai parties to reduce the chance of a third war. Wiroj replied, “Don’t listen to him. I focus on hearing the voices of the Thai people and taking care of those living along the border who are struggling due to major changes in trade, above all else.”
Wiroj painted a picture of modern security threats, saying that in any clash, what we face are “kamikaze drones” and suicide drones. The military must urgently reform centralized weapon procurement to enable effective joint operations. Most importantly, Thailand must have software sovereignty to prevent foreign signal jamming or frequency interference. Without relying on the domestic defense industry to manage this, combat effectiveness will lack flexibility.
Furthermore, Wiroj pointed out that this confrontation differs from 2011 because it is not only about politics or the Preah Vihear Temple dispute. It involves vast resources tied to grey capital groups and call center gangs in Cambodia, valued at over 450 billion baht annually, acting like desperate thieves fighting fiercely to protect their assets.
“We are facing a hybrid war that requires coordinated efforts among the military, police, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Anti-Money Laundering Office, and the Bank of Thailand. If each acts alone, success is impossible,” Wiroj concluded.
