Supachai Proposes Using Barter Trade System to Purchase Military Equipment in Exchange for 10-20% Agricultural Goods

Supachai proposes using a barter trade system to purchase military equipment in exchange for 10-20% agricultural products, aiming to successfully continue the initiative.

On 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Supachai Sutthammanoon, campaign assistant for the Bhumjaithai Party candidate for deputy prime minister and Minister of Commerce, shared her views on international trade using a barter trade system. She noted that people often focus on what we sell, but it's also important to consider what we buy. Currently, there is significant demand for purchases such as military equipment. She suggested it would be beneficial to negotiate terms since there is not just one country selling such equipment worldwide. For example, if intending to buy, we could request that at least 10-20% of the purchase be made with Thai agricultural products. If more can be negotiated, it would be even better. This system would involve exchanging our products rather than paying solely in cash, allowing us to establish standards for purchasing our goods. This approach would enable structured negotiations and agreements. Discussions are already underway on this matter, and it is recognized as an important issue to pursue and bring to fruition.
