Trinuch Vows to Improve Quality of Life for Informal Workers, Expanding Benefits

The Palang Pracharath Party highlights that Thai people must have employment and is preparing to push for rights under Section 40 to elevate the quality of life for 20 million informal workers by providing them with additional benefits.

On 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, unveiled labor policies emphasizing that Thai people must have jobs and that informal workers need secure protections through a major reform of social security benefits under Section 40. This policy builds on successes achieved during her tenure as Minister of Labor, with support from Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, party advisory chairman, aiming to enhance the dignity of independent workers.

Ms. Trinuch further explained that key changes include increasing disability compensation from 1,000 baht to 3,000 baht per month; raising illness-related income replacement from 50 baht to 200 baht per instance; increasing child support from 200 baht to 300 baht per child; and revising old-age pension rules to ensure heirs receive more comprehensive and equitable benefits.

The Palang Pracharath Party leader added that the policy targets groups driving the grassroots economy, such as farmers, small traders, and hired drivers, to help them access suitable welfare systems and enjoy better quality of life amid a fluctuating economy. The party prioritizes informal workers, emphasizing that it is not enough for them just to have jobs—they must have genuine life security. This policy aims to strengthen the stability of the small workers who are the foundation of the country.
