
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has revealed that Paethongtarn Shinawatra, after stepping down as Prime Minister, still has wealth exceeding 11.3 billion baht. However, her assets have decreased by 2.6 billion baht compared to when she took office in 2024. She continues to carry debts of 4.4 billion baht from loans taken from her mother and other relatives.
On 14 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) office, the declaration of assets and liabilities for political officeholders was disclosed. Of particular interest is Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister, who left office on 1 Jul 2025 GMT+7. She has total assets amounting to 11,321,646,719 baht, with her personal assets totaling 11,234,769,810 baht. These include cash of 7,237,696 baht; bank deposits in 25 accounts totaling 1,060,535,410 baht; investments worth 8,347,745,540 baht; loans given amounting to 15,238,714 baht, lent to her brother Panthongtae Shinawatra on 8 Sep 2016 GMT+7; 12 plots of land valued at 724,922,982 baht; nine buildings totaling 168,615,386 baht, including condominium units in Pathumwan district, Bangkok, valued at 63.9 million and 64.9 million baht respectively, and a unit in Khlong Toei district worth 26.8 million baht; 23 vehicles valued at 66,770,000 baht; rights and concessions totaling 425,022,830 baht; and other assets worth 418,681,250 baht, including 75 baht of gold bars valued at 3.8 million baht, 75 watches valued at 162 million baht, nine Bearbrick collectible dolls worth 1.9 million baht, 217 handbags totaling 76.6 million baht, 109 rings worth 31.9 million baht, and 167 sets of clothing valued at 26.7 million baht.
At the same time, Ms. Paethongtarn reported total debts of 4,439,980,600 baht, including an overdraft of 545,826 baht and other debts amounting to 4,434,522,338 baht across nine items. These debts stem from loans from relatives: 1) Four loan agreements with her sister, Ms. Pintongtharn Shinawatra, dated 8 Sep 2016 GMT+7, totaling 2,388,724,094 baht; 2) A loan agreement with her brother, Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra, dated 8 Sep 2016 GMT+7, amounting to 335,420,541 baht; 3) Two loan agreements with her uncle, Mr. Bannapoj Damapong, in 2023 totaling 1,315,460,000 baht; 4) A loan agreement with Mrs. Bussaba Damapong dated 8 May 2023, totaling 258,400,000 baht; 5) A loan agreement with her mother, Khunying Pojaman Damapong, dated 8 Sep 2016 GMT+7, totaling 136,517,701 baht. These loan agreements are the same debts declared when she took office on 6 Sep 2024 GMT+7. Ms. Paethongtarn stated these were promissory notes (PN) to pay for shares, which were challenged during a no-confidence debate, raising suspicions that these legal transactions might have been used to avoid tax payments.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pitak Suksawat, her spouse, has assets totaling 86,746,214 baht, including cash of 3,424,263 baht; bank deposits in nine accounts totaling 8,965,374 baht; investments worth 12,466,031 baht; loans given of 12,770,000 baht; four plots of land valued at 32,198,216 baht; three buildings totaling 8,273,784 baht; rights and concessions worth 1,728,545 baht; and other assets valued at 6,920,000 baht. He has debts of 1,179,110 baht. Comparing to when Ms. Paethongtarn took office on 6 Sep 2024 GMT+7, her assets decreased by 2,672,180,184 baht, mainly due to a reduction of over 2.66 billion baht in investments.
