Pheu Thai Sends Prasert to Assist After High-Speed Rail Crane Collapse Aor Chen Expresses Condolences to Victims

The Pheu Thai Party sent Prasert to the site of a crane collapse at the high-speed rail construction in Sikhio district, arranging temporary shelter for passengers still stranded. Meanwhile, Yotsanan posted condolences to the victims.


On 14 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai's prime ministerial candidate, posted on Facebook that while visiting Saraburi-Korat today, a crane working on the high-speed rail project collapsed onto a train on the Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani line in Sikhio district, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries. Upon hearing the news, Pheu Thai acted promptly. Prasert Chanthararuangthong, the party's secretary-general responsible for the area, immediately went to coordinate rescue efforts and the swift transport of injured persons to hospitals.


"On behalf of the Pheu Thai Party, I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and send strength to the injured, as well as to all medical personnel working tirelessly. We will monitor the situation closely and provide assistance through all possible channels," he said.


Prasert rushed to the scene and arranged temporary accommodation for stranded passengers.


Prasert Chanthararuangthong, the Pheu Thai secretary-general, who was campaigning in Sikhio district, went to the accident site upon hearing the news to assess the situation and check on rescue progress. He coordinated with hospitals and local foundations, expediting the transfer of injured individuals to nearby hospitals as quickly as possible.


He also coordinated temporary lodging for passengers still stranded, providing shelter while they awaited contact from relatives. Additionally, he worked with the State Railway of Thailand to publicize lists of the deceased and injured, facilitating easier contact between relatives and train passengers involved in the incident.


Reports indicate that a construction crane collapsed in Sikhio subdistrict, Sikhio district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, falling onto a passenger train on the Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani line. Initially, three trains were damaged, with one catching fire. At least 80 people were injured and some died. The State Railway promptly arranged medical assistance, sending injured persons to nearby hospitals such as Sikhio Hospital, Nonsung Hospital, Pak Chong Hospital, and others according to their conditions.
