
The Army has sent a rapid response team to Si Khio to assist victims of a crane collapse onto Express Train No. 21 in Nakhon Ratchasima. All trapped passengers have now been evacuated. Contact numbers have been opened for checking the list of accident victims and train passengers.
At 14:20 on 14 January 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Kanyanat Pornnipatkul, Assistant Army Spokesperson, stated that a crane from the high-speed rail construction project fell onto the passenger car of Express Train No. 21 (Bangkok Aphiwat–Ubon Ratchathani), which was passing through Si Khio district, Nakhon Ratchasima, earlier this morning. The impact caused the train car to derail and a fire broke out rapidly at the front of the train, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, with some passengers trapped inside the train.
General Pana Khlaoplatthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, was informed of the situation and expressed concern for the victims. He assigned the 2nd Development Division, responsible for the area, to deploy a rapid response team equipped with disaster relief tools to the site. They are coordinating with government agencies and volunteer foundations to expedite assistance to those affected, evacuate the injured to local hospitals immediately, and evacuate all passengers trapped in the train to safe waiting areas arranged by the province. At present, all injured and trapped passengers have been successfully evacuated from the train.
Additionally, the 2nd Development Division has deployed personnel to coordinate planning for clearing the accident site, removing debris and fallen steel obstructing the railway tracks, and assisting in investigating the cause of the accident to ensure public safety and prevent similar incidents in the area.
