Electoral Candidate Documents Sent by the Election Commission to Embassies for Overseas Voting Contain Multiple Errors

Documents listing constituency-based candidates sent by the Election Commission to Thai embassies organizing overseas elections contain errors in multiple constituencies. An urgent review and correction process is underway before these are distributed to eligible Thai voters in each city.

On 14 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports indicated that documents listing constituency candidates sent by the Election Commission (EC) to 95 Thai embassies and consulates in 67 countries for organizing overseas elections—and which must be provided to eligible voters in each country for postal voting—contained errors. For example, in constituency 1 of Mukdahan province, the photo of candidate number 7 from the Seri Ruam Thai party was duplicated as the photo for candidate number 8 from the Puea Ban Muang party. In constituency 1 of Ranong province, candidate number 3 from the Pheu Thai party appeared without the party's name listed in the document. Additionally, in constituency 10 of Bangkok, the party name Ruam Thai Sang Chart was misprinted as Ruam Thai Rang Chart, among other errors.

As a result, Thai embassy and consulate officials in several countries have been working quickly to verify and correct the constituency candidate documents before redistributing them to eligible Thai voters in each city for postal voting.
