The Prime Minister showed frustration and shook his head after learning about the repeated crane collapses on Rama 2 Road. He plans to call a meeting as agencies continue to shift responsibility, claiming they lack authority, and said legal amendments will likely be necessary.
On 15 January 2025, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said he had received reports about the crane collapse on Rama 2 Road earlier this morning but was not yet aware of details. He appeared at a loss for words before shaking his head.
When asked if contracts would be reviewed since the incident caused two deaths, Anutin said he would instruct Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, to call a meeting. He shook his head and added, “This kind of incident has happened. We have been informed. I will call people to report the details again.”
When asked whether contracts should be reviewed due to the repeated incidents, the Prime Minister said, “As I said, I heard on the news this morning that agencies keep passing responsibility around. Sometimes the law needs to be amended because one agency or another says they have no authority. Instead of just telling agencies what to do, I think a meeting must be called to take some action.”
When asked if the meeting would be held at the Thai Khu Fah Building at Government House, the Prime Minister did not respond and immediately returned to Government House.
