Prime Minister Calls Urgent Meeting This Afternoon to Hold Contractors Accountable for Crane Collapses in Korat and Rama 2

Prime Minister Anutin has called a meeting of government agencies to urgently find measures to hold contractors responsible following crane collapses crushing trains in Korat and on Rama 2 Road.

On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7 this afternoon, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul summoned relevant agencies—including the Ministry of Transport, the Attorney General, the Director-General of the Comptroller General's Department, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Council of State, and the Engineering Institute of Thailand under Royal Patronage—for an urgent meeting on construction safety in Ministry of Transport projects. The meeting aims to find ways to set measures and amend laws to swiftly hold contractors accountable for accidents, specifically the crane collapses crushing trains in Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and the crane collapse on the inbound side of Rama 2 Road in Samut Sakhon Province.

The Prime Minister also summoned Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, to report on the situation and discuss additional relief measures for the deceased.
