Criticism erupts over Theerawat, People's Party list MP candidate, who reveals two more arrest warrants for party candidates. He urges anyone guilty to recognize their wrongdoing and promptly take responsibility before causing harm to the party.
On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after police arrested Ratchapong Soisuwan, known as “MP Pond,” People's Party candidate for Tak's 2nd district, under the Criminal Court warrant no. 196/69 dated 13 Jan 2026, on charges of “jointly organizing gambling or schemes to lure, advertise, or directly or indirectly invite others to gamble via electronic media without official permission, conspiracy for money laundering, and money laundering,” at his home in Nuanchan area, Nawamin Road, Bangkok. The arrest took place on the evening of 14 Jan, and he denied all allegations.
A prompt for anyone aware to come forward quickly.
Recently, Police Lieutenant Colonel Theerawat Panyanthammakul, also known as “Oat,” the 50th ranked People's Party list MP candidate and husband of Sasinan Thamnitinan, or “Lawyer Jam,” People's Party candidate for Bangkok's 11th district, posted on Facebook: “There are two more warrants waiting to hit. If you know you’ve done wrong and harmed the party, please take responsibility now. No need to wait for the warrant.”
After the post spread, it drew significant criticism from many People's Party supporters. The facts suggest a strong likelihood that the party has been aware all along about who had complaints filed against them for these issues but took no action, citing lack of evidence, leading to damage to the party’s reputation and image.
Meanwhile, a check of Police Lieutenant Colonel Theerawat’s Facebook shows he has since deleted the post following the controversy.
