Kanwee expressed regret over the repeated crane collapse on Rama 2 Road, pointing to negligence by both the government and private sector, and demanded strict punitive measures, noting the recurrence involved the same company.
On 15 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Kanwee Suebsang, leader of the Dynamic Party, expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the crane collapse during construction of the Rama 2 elevated road this morning, which caused 2 deaths and 5 injuries.
"It is unbelievable that within just two days, Thailand has experienced consecutive crane collapses during important state infrastructure projects. Yesterday, a crane collapsed onto a train in the high-speed rail construction project in Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, resulting in 32 confirmed deaths. Sadly, the same construction company was responsible for both incidents."
Mr. Kanwee stated that today, a crane on the Rama 2 road construction site collapsed onto passing vehicles at a similar time, repeating the problem within a day. Regardless of who is at fault, the clear issue is government failure, as there have been no measures to manage contractors or related parties responsible for endangering public safety, especially on Rama 2 road where such incidents repeatedly occur.
He also highlighted the background of joint ventures among construction companies on large projects, noting that the same group of companies was involved in the collapse of the State Audit Office building, the high-speed rail crane accident in Korat, and the Rama 2 road construction incident.
"We cannot forgive such mistakes and irresponsibility any longer. Corruption in every sector is a major problem that must be eradicated. Transparency in state projects must be achieved."
