At 11:00 a.m. on 15 January 2026, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that H.E. Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand, met with Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul at the Ivory Room, Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House, to deliver humanitarian aid to Thailand consisting of a donation of 10 million yuan and relief goods valued at 10 million yuan, totaling 20 million yuan.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their kindness and goodwill toward the Thai people, noting that this assistance reflects the longstanding strong friendship between Thailand and China. He also highlighted the diplomatic relations between the two countries and the broad, ongoing development of their cooperation.

The Chinese Ambassador expressed condolences over the accident in the Thailand-China high-speed rail project, affirming that the Chinese government places great importance on the project's safety and has instructed the involved Chinese companies to fully cooperate with Thai authorities in the investigation. He emphasized that the high-speed rail project is a key initiative within the strategic partnership between the two countries, and China is committed to continuing close and transparent cooperation.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister praised the humanitarian aid as a sincere gesture from the Chinese government toward Thailand as a close friend, emphasizing that the Thailand-China relationship is fraternal, built on trust, mutual respect, and support in times of difficulty. Over several decades, the two countries have worked closely together across all dimensions.

The Chinese Ambassador affirmed readiness to promote the full rice import target within this year and to support continued Chinese tourism to Thailand, thereby strengthening economic stability and the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Additionally, the Chinese Ambassador praised the Thai government for its serious and concrete measures against scam gangs and call center operations, thanking Thailand for close cooperation in assisting and repatriating Chinese victims or those involved with such operations.
