Thammanat explained that the Anti-Money Laundering Office referred the case to prosecutors to petition the court for asset seizure of "Chonnapat," a party member. He stated this would not affect the election campaign and viewed it positively as it allows the justice process to proceed.
On 16 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, Advisory Chairman of the Kla Tham Party, spoke about the Anti-Money Laundering Office's decision to refer the case to prosecutors for court action to seize assets worth over 158 million baht from Chonnapat Naksua, the Songkhla MP candidate from Kla Tham. He described this as a normal political occurrence where candidates from various parties face legal actions and viewed it positively as it allows the justice system to fairly prove innocence.
Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat confirmed the matter would not affect the campaign since the key factor is public acceptance in the area. He urged people not to judge prematurely because the legal process still has many steps to prove the case. Meanwhile, the Kla Tham Party continues its campaign speeches, with him planning to take leave from government service to visit the southern provinces of Surat Thani and Songkhla this afternoon. He reiterated the party's strength as "doers, not talkers," confident in the positive response from their close work with the public.
