The Rak Chart Party has declared its position to 'Vote No' and reject the entire constitutional amendment referendum, urging that funds be better spent on addressing people's livelihoods.
On 16 January 2026, Chaiwat Thanakmanusorn, leader of the Rak Chart Party (RCP), along with Jes Tonawanik, the party's prime ministerial candidate, and Chomkamol Wongchutiroj, a parliamentary candidate for Bangkok's District 30, visited the community to introduce themselves and meet with local vendors and residents. A key highlight was their firm stance against the referendum on the new draft constitution. Jes clearly stated that the party opposes drafting an entirely new constitution. They are not campaigning for a 'No Vote' but urging people to cast a 'Vote No'—a vote of disapproval.
Jes explained the reasoning behind this position, citing budget waste. He said the government should redirect these funds toward urgently addressing livelihood and economic problems. He likened the referendum to signing a blank check, as the questions are broad without clear detailed content. This effectively asks citizens to approve something without knowing the specifics. There are no guarantees of stability; scrapping the entire constitution without assurance that the new one would be better is risky because the problem lies with people, not the law.
Jes emphasized that if changes are necessary, they should be made clause by clause rather than discarding the entire constitution. He urged that if citizens want to protect national interests and avoid risks from drafting a vague supreme law, they should vote 'No' to the full new draft. This would send a clear message to politicians that the public demands precise solutions rather than political games involving legal revisions.
