Phiphat ordered an urgent investigation into the crane collapse incidents in Si Khio District and Rama 2 area, emphasizing that the inquiry will not stop at just an investigation. He vowed to hold all responsible parties fully accountable without sparing anyone, while also accelerating aid for those affected and raising Thailand's safety standards.
On 16 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, posted on Facebook about the crane collapse over a train in Si Khio District, Nakhon Ratchasima, and the accident on Rama 2 Road. He said he is using his personal platform to report on the comprehensive follow-up and expedited investigation to reach clear conclusions and take full legal action against all involved, whether contractors or government officials. If negligence or legal violations are found, no exceptions will be made. Alongside, he is pushing for full assistance and compensation for those affected, addressing both safety and impact issues to relieve hardship and ensure justice for victims as quickly as possible.
Phiphat also stated that he will push to raise safety standards for construction projects and public transport services under the Ministry of Transport's supervision. This will focus on reviewing regulatory measures, quality inspections, and preventing similar incidents in the future to build public confidence and safety.
“I will fully act on all fronts—investigation, punishment, compensation, and raising standards—to ensure that people receive justice and have confidence in Thailand’s transport system,” Phiphat said.
