The Prachachon Party spokesperson confirmed that the news about the party negotiating for Police General Surachate to become Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the police is untrue. While campaigning at Liab Duan Market, the party highlighted three policies for Bangkok residents to address their needs and concerns.
On 16 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Paris Watcharasindhu, spokesperson of the Prachachon Party, campaigned for Phurivat Jaisamran, candidate for Bangkok’s 12th constituency, number 15, at the Liab Duan Ramindra Market. The atmosphere was lively, with many citizens engaging and asking about the party’s policies. Paris stated that the market draws people from various Bangkok districts, so he wished to communicate the party's three main policy points concerning Bangkok as a whole.
The first point addresses the PM2.5 dust problem. The Prachachon Party aims to reclaim the right to clean air for all Thai people nationwide by tackling root causes. This includes empowering local governments, including Bangkok, to monitor black smoke emissions and penalize industrial offenders. The party will promote PRTR legislation requiring factories to disclose toxic substances. In agriculture, the party plans to incentivize farmers to reduce burning crop residues and increase funding for forest fire-fighting teams. These policies will be more effective once the Clean Air Act—currently pending in parliament—is enacted. If elected, the Prachachon Party will expedite this law.
The next point is reducing living costs, such as implementing a uniform fare of 8–45 baht covering buses and electric trains, and lowering electricity prices by 0.25–0.75 baht per unit. This will be achieved without using taxpayers’ money but through renegotiating contracts with private power plants and increasing competition in the electricity sector.
The final point is pushing to amend the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act to grant more power and budget to the elected Governor of Bangkok, enabling more effective problem-solving for residents. Regarding support for businesses, Paris noted that small Thai entrepreneurs struggle due to illegal foreign goods flooding the market and undercutting prices. The party's first 100-day plan includes cracking down on counterfeit and nominee goods through integrated data systems, proactive technology use, public transparency, incentives for whistleblowers, and holding e-commerce platforms accountable for counterfeit sales. Additionally, the party proposes economic stimulus measures like a "receipt lottery" to benefit small businesses, tax incentives, and simplified VAT payments at a flat 2.1% rate to reduce administrative burdens.
Phurivat stated that Bangkok’s 12th electoral district covers Lat Phrao, Bang Khen, and Sai Mai districts, each with specific issues. At Liab Duan Market, many vendors reported significant sales declines. The Prachachon Party’s economic stimulus policies aim to help small entrepreneurs, alongside welfare measures such as housing rent subsidies up to 1,000 baht per month to alleviate living costs for residents.
On that matter, Paris Watcharasindhu, spokesperson of the Prachachon Party, told reporters he denied claims by Chuwit Kamolvisit that the party approached Police General Surachate Hakparn, former Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, for the Deputy Prime Minister position in charge of police affairs. He affirmed these claims are untrue and groundless. The Prachachon Party seeks to be clear and transparent; if given the opportunity to govern, it will reveal the full executive team, including the Prime Minister and four Deputy Prime Ministers. This election, the party intends to clarify these details sufficiently. Therefore, Paris declined to mention any names since there is no basis for the rumors.
