Thammanat Appeals to Southern People, Declares War on Capital Groups, Commits to Real Flood Relief Efforts

Thammanat led the Kla Tham Party in a major rally, appealing with “I love the South,” declared war on capital groups, vowed to reclaim farmland, insisted on real flood relief efforts—not just photo ops—and highlighted “Professor Mam” as the party’s true economic expert.

On 16 Jan 2026 at 19:00 GMT+7, the Kla Tham Party held a major rally at Ban Na Doem Market Intersection, Ban Na Doem District, Surat Thani. Led by Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, party advisor and prime ministerial candidate, along with Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyo Sinwattana, party leader, and Mrs. Paweena Hongsakul, social affairs party advisor and party-list MP candidate, they campaigned for Kla Tham’s Surat Thani candidates: Mr. Phuwich Kliangmon, Constituency 2, No.7; Mr. Krisphon Wankaew, Constituency 3, No.4; Mr. Poramet Jina, Constituency 5, No.5; Ms. Anongnat Jakao, Constituency 6, No.5; and Mr. Pongsak Jakao, Constituency 7, No.6.

Mrs. Paweena stated that issues like drug abuse, crime, and social hardships affect people daily. The Kla Tham Party is committed to seriously addressing these problems, but the most important factor is having people's representatives in parliament. She urged voters to choose Kla Tham candidates both in constituencies and party lists to empower the party to push realistic laws and policies, not just promises. She encouraged the public to vote for the entire Kla Tham team on 8 February.

Prof. Dr. Narumon emphasized that Kla Tham is not a party that sells unrealistic dreams or populist policies that cannot be delivered. Some political parties rarely visit communities or support people except during elections, when they make promises and cite figures they cannot fulfill. Ultimately, they borrow funds to distribute, increasing the country’s public debt with no clear repayment horizon.

“Kla Tham bases politics on truth and responsibility, especially in solving farmers’ problems—from reclaiming land from capital groups, issuing agricultural land titles, to increasing land value so citizens can access funding. We also aim to restructure debt and systematically manage water in Surat Thani. Therefore, we invite citizens to vote for Kla Tham’s party-list number 42 to empower policy implementation,” said Prof. Dr. Narumon.

Thammanat appeals: I love the South and will reclaim farmland.

Lt. Col. Thammanat said, “I love the people of Surat Thani and the South. I was born in Phayao Province, but I didn’t grow up there. After primary school, I moved to Betong District and studied first year of secondary school there. My adoptive father was a true Southerner, so the Southern culture shaped and nurtured me into the person I am today. I grew up enjoying traditional shadow puppetry, Nora dance, the lifestyle, and the sincerity of Southern people. I can confidently say my Southern identity is no less than those born in the South.”

He continued, “Kla Tham will push to reclaim farmland for farmers. We are ready to fight capital groups holding agricultural land rights (Sor Por Kor) in the South. Many Sor Por Kor 01 land titles, from Chumphon and Surat Thani down to Narathiwat, are in the hands of capital groups owning oil palm and rubber plantations, though Sor Por Kor was intended for farmers.”

“Since I joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, I’ve declared war on capital groups to return land to farmers, even though it’s a hot potato. Previously, some ruling parties dissolved parliament to avoid no-confidence debates on this issue. But I’m not afraid because I do what’s right for farmers. Early on, critics said I couldn’t succeed, but now results are tangible—from providing agricultural machinery to reclaiming land for farmers,” said Lt. Col. Thammanat.

Vows genuine flood relief efforts, not just photo ops.

Regarding disaster relief, Lt. Col. Thammanat said whenever floods occur in the South, such as in Hat Yai District, Songkhla, he immediately visits and is the last to leave after the situation stabilizes. He said Surat Thani residents can ask Hat Yai people—they do real work, not just take photos then leave.

He affirmed that the party refuses to sell empty promises. All policies must be feasible. They focus on livelihoods, including rubber, livestock, farming, and productivity enhancement, to ensure sustainable living and food security rather than distributing funds without clear sources or feasibility.

Lt. Col. Thammanat also spoke about Prof. Dr. Narumon, Kla Tham’s leader, as an expert in finance and accounting, graduated from Chulalongkorn University, with scholarships for master’s and doctoral studies in the U.S. She served as assistant minister in the Ministry of Finance since 2014. Professor Mam is a key force to establish financial systems, reform banks for the people and farmers, and provide genuinely low-interest loans to help those burdened with debt.

“Kla Tham is a political party with vision, knowledge, and the courage to decide. We reaffirm our stance: ‘Dare to think, dare to act, and deliver’ for the benefit of people nationwide.”

The rally atmosphere was lively with a large crowd filling the area from early evening.
