Rom Hits Back at Chuwit Over Alleged Secret Deal with Big Joke, Challenges to Reveal Southern MP Candidates

Rom criticized Chuwit for his vivid imagination about a secret deal with Big Joke, challenging him to reveal the names of southern MP candidates to see if they belong to Big Joke. He said he is not working for anyone and intends to continue presenting policies to the public.

On 17 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Rangsiman Rome, leader of the People's Party (Prachachon), responded to Chuwit Kamolvisit's claim that the party made a "secret deal" with Police General Surachate Hakparn (Big Joke) to secure 10 MP seats in the southern region in exchange for promoting him to deputy prime minister overseeing the police. He said this was false and purely imaginary. The People's Party's political culture would never engage in such actions, and he challenged anyone to check all southern MP candidates’ names to see if any are Big Joke’s people.

Rangsiman added that based on previous conversations as chairman of the Security Commission, Police General Surachate wants to return to a position within the Royal Thai Police and has never shown any intention to enter politics or become a minister as alleged. He suggested these rumors may be fabricated to intimidate certain police groups by using Surachate’s name to instill fear.

“Although Chuwit’s actions amount to defamation and if done by a political party would violate election laws, because he is a private individual it is difficult to act against him. The party will not waste time investigating whether he is working for anyone and will instead focus on presenting policies to the public,” Rangsiman said. He affirmed the People's Party rejects all of Chuwit’s claims as baseless and urged the public to exercise discretion when receiving such information.
