Election Commission Sets Deadline of 23 Jan for Parties to Submit Election Observation Representatives

The Election Commission has informed political parties and candidates intending to send representatives to observe the House of Representatives election to submit their notifications by 23 January, and to comply with the Election Commission's regulations.

On 17 January 2026, the Office of the Election Commission announced that for the House of Representatives election on Sunday, 8 February 2026, and advance voting both inside and outside constituencies on Sunday, 1 February 2026, political parties that have nominated candidates may send representatives to observe the voting or vote counting at polling stations, central polling stations, or vote counting centers. Parties must submit appointment letters for their representatives to the constituency Election Commission at least 15 days before the election, by 23 January 2026. Each representative may be appointed to one location—either a polling station, central polling station, or vote counting center—using form MP 2/10. Representatives must remain in designated areas at these locations where they can observe proceedings but are prohibited from acting or conversing with election officers, polling station officials, or each other, and from photographing election officials, vote counting staff, or voters during the voting process. They must follow instructions given by the polling station officials, central polling station officials, or vote counting officials.

If a representative violates these rules, polling station officials, central polling station officials, or vote counting officials will first issue a warning. If the violation continues, these officials have the authority to order the political party representative to leave the polling station, central polling station, or vote counting center as applicable. Security personnel will enforce this order, and the incident will be recorded in the official election report for that location.
