Election 2026: Thanathorn visits Maha Sarakham to campaign, urging people to mark both People’s Party ballots to create a government for the people and choose a future for their children. He points out that voting for other parties will only yield the same old cabinet.
18 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Chairman of the Progressive Movement, acting as a campaign assistant for the People’s Party (PPP), began his campaign early at Maha Sarakham Municipal Fresh Market. He then rode a campaign truck supporting candidate Theerawat Parna for Member of Parliament (MP) in Maha Sarakham’s Constituency 1 for the People’s Party. He greeted shoppers and passersby before the truck toured main streets of Maha Sarakham city, with campaign speeches at various points.
Later in the morning, Thanathorn joined a campaign rally at Ban Nong Waeng, Borabue Subdistrict, Borabue District, Maha Sarakham, supporting candidate Wanchana Chairungreung for MP in Constituency 4. The event attracted locals and passersby who stopped to listen, chat, offer encouragement, and take photos along the route.
Thanathorn said in a speech that in the last election, the Move Forward Party gathered over 250 seats in parliament but could not form a government because the Senate blocked it. This time, as the Senate will not vote for prime minister, he called for overwhelming support for the People’s Party on both ballots to form the government.
He added, “Today, polls from all agencies point in the same direction: the People’s Party is the most popular among voters. But that is not enough. This time, we cannot afford to waver. We want the People’s Party’s victory to be decisive.” “The People’s Party needs enough public support so it cannot be ignored. Some say the People’s Party cannot form a government this election, but we will prove them wrong again. Let’s make possible what is possible once more in the 2026 election. The goal is not only to be the top party but to form the government.”
Thanathorn also said that everyone has seen the People’s Party’s proposed government team and personnel. If voters choose other parties, the cabinet will look the same as before. But if they choose the People’s Party, the party will be the first to break new ground in Thai politics, revealing the cabinet lineup before the election. The people’s votes will enable a government chosen not by factions, clans, or surnames but based on suitability and expertise for each position.
He concluded, “If you don’t choose the People’s Party, in the end, the cabinet will be the same old faces, the same people running the country again. If you want to see Thailand progress and change, you cannot use the old players to drive it. New energy and creativity are necessary. Many have lost hope, thinking that no matter how many times they vote or who they vote for, life will stay the same. But we do not believe that. Use your ballot to write the future for your children. Use your vote to choose their future.”
