Advance Voting for 2026 Election Confirmed on Sunday, 1 February No Advance Referendum Voting

The 2026 advance voting confirms that those registered to vote on Sunday, 1 February, will not cast ballots in the referendum in advance; to vote in the referendum, they must go to the polling stations on 8 February.

On 19 January 2026, following the Election Commission (EC) announcement of the general election for the House of Representatives scheduled for Sunday, 8 February 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00, elections will be held for constituency MPs, party-list MPs, and a referendum on constitutional amendments.

When is the advance voting?

At the same time, the EC has set the advance voting day as Sunday, 1 February 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00. Voters who registered for advance voting between 20 December 2025 and 5 January 2026 will be eligible, including registrations for advance voting in their constituency, advance voting outside their constituency, and advance voting abroad. Meanwhile, the referendum voting will not have advance voting; only out-of-constituency and overseas voting will be allowed.

Referendum question

The referendum question for voters to approve or disapprove is stated on the ballot as “Do you approve that there should be a new constitution?” This time the referendum ballot will be yellow. If voters cast ballots on the same day, they must verify their identity twice: first to receive two ballots for MPs, which are green for constituency MP and pink for party-list MP. After voting for MPs, they must verify identity again to receive the referendum ballot.

For those who have already voted in advance on 1 February 2026, when they come to vote in the referendum, polling stations will provide special channels to facilitate their voting.

Notification for failure to vote in 2026 election

However, in cases where there is a valid reason for not voting, notification must be made within seven days before or after the election day.
