Prachachon Party Wont Press Charges Against Those Damaging Campaign Signs but Will Report Organized Acts to Provincial Election Commission

Wirot emphasized that the Prachachon Party does not want to take legal action against individuals who damage campaign signs, considering that it might stem from personal bias. The party will continue to seek understanding and thanks those who still care and kindly help repair the signs. However, if it is found to be an organized effort, the party is ready to file complaints with the provincial Election Commission.

19 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wirot Lakkhanaadisorn, Deputy Leader of the Prachachon Party, commented on the case where campaign signs of Prachachon Party candidates in several areas were damaged during the final stretch of the 2026 election campaign and whether it is necessary to form a team to investigate and take action against those responsible. He said such incidents are already monitored by candidates in each province; some have evidence but do not want to press charges. If the acts result from personal bias and are not organized, the situation must be carefully considered on a case-by-case basis, as the party does not wish to take legal action against the public.

Wirot further stated that if the damage to campaign signs results from personal bias or dissatisfaction by an individual citizen and is not part of an organized or orchestrated campaign, the party may choose not to pursue legal action even if clear CCTV footage exists, because filing a complaint would be a criminal offense that cannot be withdrawn.

He also cited an example in Chanthaburi province where banknotes were placed on campaign signs to create content. Although the party understands the perpetrator's intent, due to legal reasons it must file a complaint regarding issues related to campaign signs, requiring careful consideration of such matters.

Wirot added that if damage to campaign signs is merely an expression of personal bias or dislike by the general public, the party will only repair the signs and thanks the citizens who voluntarily help fix them for Prachachon Party candidates. He reiterated that if damage is found to be caused by recurring groups or has the characteristics of an organized operation, the Prachachon Party will not ignore it and must file complaints with the provincial Election Commission for investigation and legal action as prescribed by law. .
