19 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Khunying Kanya Sophonpanich, the prime ministerial candidate and leader of the Thai Khao Mai party, led the team of Thai Khao Mai candidates in Nakhon Ratchasima to pay respects at the Thao Suranari (Ya Mo) monument for auspiciousness and to show their heritage as Ya Mo’s descendants, seeking blessings for election success. They then visited the Korat city pillar shrine to honor the site and emphasize the party’s focus on the strategic lower northeastern region, especially Korat as the gateway to Isan.
They then officially began campaigning by touring Korat city in a parade, warmly welcomed by locals. Khunying Kanya and the candidates proceeded on foot to campaign in Sikhio district, her hometown, where she is well known. The atmosphere was cheerful, with many locals happily taking photos with her.
“I ask the people of Sikhio to give me the chance to develop our area and hometown to improve living standards. Please allow Thai Khao Mai, number 49, to take care of our community. I urge the people of Sikhio to vote for Thai Khao Mai.”
Earlier this morning, Khunying Kanya also campaigned at Kim Heng Market, receiving a warm welcome from residents. She spoke with vendors who expressed a desire for economic stimulation to improve trade and voiced frustration with old-style politics. Khunying Kanya therefore asked for votes for Thai Khao Mai to continue the party’s policies, especially free education up to doctoral level and student loan debt relief, emphasizing that education is the cure for poverty because good education leads to good jobs and stable family income.
