Anutin emphasized that Bhumjaithai will not amend Chapters 1 and 2 or any sections concerning royal powers, even though Bowornsak expressed that constitutional amendments do not necessarily require locking those two chapters. As for other parties, it depends on whether they have conditions or not.
At 11:30 a.m. on 20 Jan 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke regarding Bowornsak Uwanno, Deputy Prime Minister’s suggestion that political parties say it is unnecessary to lock Chapters 1 and 2 in constitutional amendments but should specify what should be amended. He said that since Bhumjaithai will not touch Chapters 1 and 2, there is no need for further explanation.
When asked if some parties’ unwillingness to lock those chapters causes concern, Anutin asked if this referred to other parties, then answered, "That is up to them."
When asked about Bowornsak’s statement that forbidding amendments only to Chapters 1 and 2 is insufficient because royal powers are provided for elsewhere in the constitution, whether Bhumjaithai agrees, Anutin reaffirmed that Bhumjaithai will not touch Chapters 1, 2, or royal powers. He said their position has been clear since the party’s founding, so there is no need for further clarification.
