Rom Campaigns in Buriram, Questions Chaiyachon on Releasing Names of 10 MP Candidates Linked to Scammer Ring

Rangsiman Rom campaigns in Buriram focusing on police stations, pledging to end the shaved-head policy for police if elected. He questions Chaiyachon on plans to reveal the names of 10 MP candidates linked to a scammer ring near the election, asking if this aims for political advantage.

20 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Rangsiman Rom, deputy leader of the Prachachon Party and candidate on the party-list for MP seats, continued campaigning across Buriram province, most recently speaking in front of the Lam Plai Mat Police Station. He said he would overhaul the entire police structure, including abolishing the buying of positions and nepotism, allowing promotion based solely on merit. If elected to govern, his first order would be to end the shaved-head hairstyle requirement for police officers.

Rangsiman Rom further stated, he is not worried about Buriram because the people there now strongly desire change. He added that he firmly believes voters, regardless of province or party influence, will choose their own future and what is best for themselves. He noted that the Prachachon Party’s chances are growing despite current smear campaigns against it. He observed that many politicians have governed Thailand over several terms and held ministerial posts, yet the country remains at its current state. He urged the people of Buriram to see this election as a crucial opportunity to decide if there will be a new government and management style.

Reporters then asked about Chaiyachon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, who had revealed plans to disclose the names of 10 MP candidates from the same party allegedly linked to a scammer gang. Rangsiman said he had asked Chaiyachon about the extent of the scammer crackdown and was told it definitely existed. He questioned why Chaiyachon intends to release this information near election time, asking if it is politically motivated.

“If they really want to crack down on scammers, why haven’t they targeted major figures like Ben Smith? Why was he allowed to operate despite having assets worth tens of billions, not even counting all his wealth? Why hasn’t there been further investigation or questioning about the yacht Ben Smith gifted to politicians? The DSI still calls him as a witness. I admit our party is not 100% perfect, but what about the others? Are they clean, gray, or outright corrupt?”

Supharit Files Complaint with Election Commission Over Bhumjaithai MP Candidate Spreading Fake News to Discredit Prachachon Party

Supharit Mee Lam, former Krabi MP candidate for the Move Forward Party, filed a complaint at the Krabi Provincial Election Commission Office. He submitted a letter and evidence from the Line application to request legal action against a Bhumjaithai MP candidate who shared fake news links defaming the rival Prachachon Party. The false messages included statements like “Next month I will be prime minister, and I will remove all fences,” and “If Pita becomes prime minister, the country will burn.”

Supharit said the candidate shared fake news links in local Line groups intending to undermine the local public’s confidence in the Prachachon Party. He stressed this behavior was highly inappropriate, especially since the candidate had been an MP before and should exercise better judgment. As the election and campaigning period is when voters decide, this act aims to destroy the opponent’s credibility. He called on the Election Commission to take full legal action.
