At 16:00 on 20 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai (BJT) party and prime ministerial candidate Along with party leaders and the party list candidates, including Secretary-General Chaichon Chidchob, candidate Pradorn Prissanantakul for Ang Thong, Supamas Isarapakdee, Warawut Silpa-archa, Eknat Phrompan, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Kriangyot Sudlapha, Anucha Burapachaisri, and Santi Piyatat, they campaigned for Lalida Pritvivattana, the Bhumjaithai candidate for Bangkok's District 1 in the Sampeng market area, Sampanthawong district, Bangkok.
Upon Anutin's arrival at Sampeng market, people approached him to take photos and said, "It's very quiet here, please help Sampeng." Anutin then entered the lively Sampeng market, greeting vendors warmly, inquiring about their business, and taking selfies with vendors, locals, and foreign tourists.
Anutin asked a vendor if she wanted the Khon La Khrueng Plus program back. The vendor replied, "Yes, but one thing I want is for the border checkpoints to remain closed. Even though we have customers from Cambodia, I want the government to keep the borders closed." Anutin confirmed that the checkpoints are still closed. The vendor then asked, "Can the Khon La Khrueng Plus subsidy be increased?" Anutin replied, "Definitely." Additionally, a vendor placed a heart-shaped sticker on Anutin's shirt.
A bank employee inside Sampeng market came out to take a photo with Anutin, mentioning she is from Phatthalung province and supports candidate number 37. Anutin greeted her in the southern dialect and said, "Please support me." Meanwhile, a vendor requested better organization of electrical wiring in the market and asked for solutions to the high rent charged by landlords renting out market shops, which affects long-standing Thai vendors. She said that previous parties promised but did not act, but seeing this party's policies being implemented made her want to support them—asking them to fulfill their slogans. Afterwards, Anutin, party leaders, and candidates took a break to eat noodles at a long-established shop in Yaowarat.
Reporters noted that while campaigning on Yaowarat Road, it coincidentally happened that, Suchatvee Suwansawat, also known as Dr. Ae, leader of the Thai Khao Mai party and prime ministerial candidate, along with Khunying Kanlaya Sophonpanich, Thai Khao Mai's prime ministerial candidate and party chairwoman, and their team, were campaigning on the opposite side of the street. Upon seeing them, Anutin called out, "Brother Ae!" Suchatvee smiled and waved in response, then led his group across the street to meet Anutin. The two embraced and exchanged words of encouragement. Suchatvee wished Anutin good luck, while Anutin said, "Hope we meet in Parliament." They then shook hands and raised them together to encourage each other before parting ways to continue campaigning.
Later, Anutin and the Bhumjaithai team visited Sampanthawong Temple to pay respects to the abbot, who sprinkled holy water blessings on Anutin and the group.
