Dr. Ae, together with Khun Ying Kanya, led a campaign team supporting the Bangkok MP candidate for Constituency 1. Confident that the people of Yaowarat want change and professional leadership, they sought an opportunity for the Thai Khao Mai Party and engaged in a playful exchange with Anutin after a chance encounter.
At 17:30 on 20 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Suchatvee Suwansawat, known as Dr. Ae, leader of the Thai Khao Mai Party and prime ministerial candidate, along with Khun Ying Kanya Sophonpanich, party chairwoman and prime ministerial candidate, visited Yaowarat Road to support Mr. Kan Kittiamphon, the Bangkok MP candidate for Constituency 1. The atmosphere was warm, with Mr. Pinit Kanjanachusak, councilor for Samphanthawong district, joining the group. Mr. Suchatvee greeted Chinese tourists and listened closely to local business owners' concerns.
Mr. Suchatvee stated that Yaowarat is the world's largest Chinese community center and a source of pride for Thailand. However, it faces chronic problems such as traffic congestion, polluted water, and illegal labor, so it is necessary to elect new leaders to solve these issues. Choosing the same as before means no change for Yaowarat. He announced a policy to support street food as a world-class attraction, promising to protect vendors from harassment and extortion, allowing them to work peacefully and attract more tourists.
Regarding rumors about vote-buying in Bangkok with prices as high as 7,500 baht per head, Dr. Suchatvee admitted this is very concerning and warned the public not to accept it as truth because taking money equates to corruption against future generations. If politicians pay for votes, they will recoup costs through budget corruption, causing Bangkok to lack development in safety, CCTV systems, and flood management. This robs children of their future and quality education opportunities.
At the same time, Mr. Suchatvee expressed confidence that Yaowarat residents want change and professional leadership, thus asking for the chance for the Thai Khao Mai Party, number 49, to serve. After campaigning, the group stopped to eat clear broth kuay jap noodles at Auan Pochana restaurant to experience authentic street food culture.
Reporters noted that during an interview with media at Yaowarat market, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and also a prime ministerial candidate, who was campaigning nearby, called out from across the street, "Pee Ae!" Upon seeing him, Mr. Suchatvee exclaimed, "Oh, Prime Minister, hello!" Anutin returned the greeting with a wai and gave a thumbs-up.
Mr. Suchatvee immediately walked across the street to meet Anutin, and upon meeting, they embraced. Seeing Khun Ying Kanya, Anutin exclaimed, "Oh!" then quickly greeted her. Khun Ying Kanya teased about the heart stickers on Anutin's shirt, "You have quite a few hearts." Meanwhile, Mr. Suchatvee introduced Mr. Kan, the Bangkok MP candidate for Thai Khao Mai Party, to Anutin and remarked that he heard someone calling "Ae, Ae!" Anutin laughed and said he was the one calling, "Pee Ae." He added no one else would dare call him that. Mr. Suchatvee then wished Anutin good luck. Anutin looked at Mr. Suchatvee's shirt and said he didn't even have a shirt yet. Khun Ying Kanya teased, "Shall we swap? I'll give you mine." Mr. Suchatvee immediately replied, "That's mean!" Anutin also told Mr. Suchatvee he hopes to meet him in parliament.
Then Anutin and Mr. Suchatvee shook hands and raised them in encouragement. At that moment, Anutin wished Thai Khao Mai Party's candidates, "Good luck. This family is talented all around."
