Former PM Somchai, Father of Yoschanan, Campaigns for Pheu Thai in Chiang Mai Election Bid

In the final phase of the 2026 election campaign, former Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, father of Yoschanan, took to the field to promote Pheu Thai Party policies and sought votes to help send Top Jakraphon back as Chiang Mai's 3rd district MP for another term.


At 6:00 p.m. on 20 January 2026, at Uytah Fresh Market and Sriyan Market, adjacent to Nong Khong House on the San Kamphaeng–Chiang Mai Cultural Road, Village 2, Ton Pao Subdistrict, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai Province. Somchai Wongsawat, former Prime Minister and father of Yoschanan Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, and his team arrived to seek votes from merchants at the two fresh markets on behalf of Jakraphon Tangsutthitham, or Top, former deputy minister and official spokesperson of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, running for MP of Chiang Mai's 3rd district under the Pheu Thai Party, covering San Kamphaeng, Mae On, and Doi Saket districts.


During the visit, merchants warmly welcomed them and presented garlands with friendly smiles. Somchai focused his campaign on Pheu Thai policies such as the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme, village funds, drug suppression, increasing farmers' income, raising the country's income level, positioning Thailand as a regional hub, clean air initiatives to sustainably reduce PM 2.5 dust, lowering energy costs for the public, energy structure reform, debt relief to alleviate poverty, expanding educational opportunities for children, upgrading community health volunteers to secure dignity and honor, addressing cyber threats, human trafficking, scammer crackdowns, and resolving gray capital lottery issues within three months, among others. Jakraphon previously served as Chiang Mai's 3rd district MP from 2019 to 2023 and is now seeking Chiang Mai voters' support to return for another term.
