Thai Senators Condemn Cambodias Rudeness Over Letter Referencing Institution, Linking Thailand-Cambodia Situation

Senators Issued a statement condemning Cambodia's lack of courtesy in issuing an open letter referencing Thai institutions and linking it to the Thailand-Cambodia situation, calling for an end to provocative remarks and urging sincerity and compliance with the outcomes of negotiations between the two countries.

At 13:30 on 21 January 2026 at the Parliament, Gen. Sawat Tatsana, senator and chairman of the Senate's Military and State Security Committee as well as the Special Committee for the Protection and Reverence of the Monarchy, and Virat Yupakdee, senator and chairman of the Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee, along with other senators, jointly issued a statement regarding the Cambodian senators' open letter referencing Thai institutions in the context of Thailand-Cambodia relations. They stated that the Special Committee for the Protection and Reverence of the Monarchy, the Military and State Security Committee, and the Foreign Affairs Committee unanimously agree that the actions of high-level Cambodian politicians linking their institution as a pretext concerning the military conflict and the Thailand-Cambodia dispute are highly inappropriate, unacceptable, and inconsistent with Thai royal traditions, constitutional principles, basic diplomatic etiquette, and ASEAN's charter on non-interference in other member states’ internal affairs. The three committees call on Cambodia to instruct high-ranking government and parliamentary officials to cease issuing provocative statements lacking sincerity. They urge Cambodia to demonstrate genuine goodwill, adhere to the outcomes of bilateral negotiations, and foster an atmosphere conducive to restoring good relations for the benefit of both nations and their peoples.
