KPI Poll Reveals Gen Z Supports Teng as Prime Minister, While Working Age and Elderly Back Anutin

Pra Pokklao Poll revealed that 26.2% have yet to find a suitable candidate for the prime minister position, followed by Natthapong Ruangpanyawut at 18.8%. Meanwhile, teenagers support the leader of the People's Party as their preferred leader, while working-age individuals aged 44-59 and those 60 and older support Anutin for prime minister.


On 21 January 2026, the Pra Pokklao Institute released the survey results titled “Election 69: Who is the Most Suitable New Prime Minister in the Public’s View,” as presented by Isara Seriwatthanawut, Secretary-General of the Pra Pokklao Institute and Chair of the KPI Poll Center. The survey aims to provide an academic, unbiased reflection of the political reality that is truthful and useful. Conducted between 8-11 January 2026 among 2,000 people aged 18 and over nationwide, key findings include: 26.2% of respondents stated there is no suitable candidate yet; Natthapong Ruangpanyawut of the People's Party received 18.8%; Anutin Charnvirakul of Bhumjaithai Party got 16.9%; Yotsanan Wongsawat of Pheu Thai Party had 10.9%; and Abhisit Vejjajiva of Democrat Party had 10.2%. When broken down by age group for those undecided, Gen Y (28-43 years) had the highest undecided rate at 29.5%, followed by Gen X (44-59 years) at 25.9%, Gen Z (18-27 years) at 24.5%, and Baby Boomers (60 and over) also at 24.5%.


Regarding leadership preferences by age group, Gen Z (18-27 years) selected Natthapong as their top choice at 33.8%, followed by Anutin at 11.3% and Yotsanan at 8.1%. Gen Y (28-43 years) chose Natthapong first at 19.6%, then Anutin at 14.1% and Yotsanan at 10.8%. Gen X (44-59 years) favored Anutin as their top choice at 21.2%, followed by Natthapong at 11.9% and Yotsanan at 11.4%. Baby Boomers (60 and over) ranked Anutin first at 20.4%, then Abhisit at 15.1% and Yotsanan at 14.1%.
