Tawee Sodsong thanked the Constitutional Court for ensuring fairness in the case where he was accused of interfering in the rigged Senate election. He declared his readiness to become Prime Minister, noting that the ruling confirmed he acted according to principles and did not break the law.
On 21 January 2026, Pol Col Tawee Sodsong, leader of the Prachachat Party and prime ministerial candidate, as well as former Minister of Justice, gave an interview following the Constitutional Court's ruling on allegations by Senators who petitioned that he used the Department of Special Investigation as a tool to interfere in the rigged Senate election case. The court found no evidence of disqualification or serious ethical violations.
He expressed gratitude to the Constitutional Court, saying that although he was not present in person, he followed the hearing and ruling online and felt the court treated him fairly. He added that now he meets all qualifications without any obstacles and is ready to be Prime Minister. Pol Col Tawee affirmed he has always been prepared to serve as Prime Minister and believes they have worked according to the justice process. As Minister of Justice, he said he had to oversee and prevent any law violations, especially misuse of power or influence to coerce others to break the law.
Regarding whether the court’s ruling could turn a crisis into an opportunity, Pol Col Tawee said he feels he has faced more of a crisis. He believes that this matter should have been handled more decisively because politicians differ from career civil servants who have limited terms, sometimes less than four years. Therefore, every moment must be used to work, as public problems are many. Today, the court has proven that he did not interfere with the DSI’s work process.
Reporters noted that Pol Col Tawee followed the Constitutional Court’s ruling live online because the court began reading its verdict at the same time as the Prachachat Party leader was scheduled to participate in a debate. He therefore assigned a party representative to attend the debate on his behalf. Upon learning that the court ruled the Minister of Justice did not interfere with the DSI’s work, Pol Col Tawee took the stage to deliver closing remarks as the Prachachat Party’s prime ministerial candidate.
