Anutin aims to establish a stronghold in Korat, appealing to become the second Prime Minister descended from Ya Mo, pledging to reclaim border land and block illegal cassava imports that have driven prices up.
On 22 January 2026, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, led a major campaign rally at the dome building of Non Sung Subdistrict Municipality to support Mr. Tawirat Rattanaseht, candidate for MP in the 5th district. This marked Anutin’s first visit to Korat since the parliament was dissolved, aiming to expand the party’s seats from just one district to the entire province.
Mr. Anutin announced foreign policy and security measures, stating that over the past four months, the government and military have reclaimed every inch of border land. He reaffirmed the stance on the Thailand-Cambodia border dispute, declaring there will be no opening of border checkpoints as desired by locals who oppose opening them amid conflict. This closure has prevented illegal cassava and rice from flooding the market from neighboring countries, thereby automatically increasing prices for Thai farmers’ cassava and rice.
Mr. Anutin confirmed that if the Bhumjaithai Party returns to government, it will immediately proceed with the 'Half-Half Plus Phase 2' program. He highlighted that it is a co-pay policy where the government and citizens share costs, effectively stimulating the economy and promoting fiscal discipline, unlike a simple 10,000 baht cash handout that may be spent on debt without circulating in the system.
Mr. Anutin emphasized his roots in Pak Chong and his ties to senior politicians like General Chatichai Choonhavan and Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop. He said, "Korat once had a Prime Minister named Chatichai. Today, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the Prime Minister of Thailand comes from Pak Chong." He asked the people of Korat to give the Bhumjaithai Party their vote so he can return to serve the public.
This event drew attention with the appearance of Mr. Wirat Rattanaseht, a veteran politician who appeared in a wheelchair to help campaign for his son. Mr. Wirat delivered a fiery speech on border issues, criticizing some parties for attempting to compromise with Cambodia, even suggesting a sister marry a Cambodian, while praising Mr. Anutin for his firm handling of the border problems.
