Kongkiat Reveals Legal Team Prepared to Fight After News of Election Commission Removing His Name

Kongkiat, candidate for Nakhon Si Thammarat MP from Kla Tham Party, revealed that his legal team has prepared information to fight after news surfaced that the Election Commission removed his name due to a past case. He pointed out this is a scheme following his failed attempt to negotiate a party switch, aimed at disqualifying him.

On 22 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Kongkiat Ketsombat, candidate for Nakhon Si Thammarat MP, constituency 7, from Kla Tham Party (K.Th.), posted a video on the Facebook page “Big O S.J. Kongkiat Ketsombat” addressing rumors that the Election Commission (EC) had withdrawn his candidacy due to a previous theft corruption case. He said this was not unexpected for him and Kla Tham's senior members. The scheme arose after his attempt to switch parties failed. He feels this is an effort to disqualify him from running in the latest MP election. The party's senior leadership, legal team, and his lawyers have prepared sufficient information to fight if the EC issues a red card or removes his candidacy. He has the right to appeal to the Supreme Court's Election Case Division within three days after the EC decision, and the court will review the case promptly.

Mr. Kongkiat added a message to all MP candidates from all political parties: Today, we compete with policies to become the people's choice and to do good work. He urged everyone to abide by the rules because he still believes in clean politics. Many things that have happened to him have been discouraging; politics has cost him friends, siblings, and made him feel depressed. Sometimes he wonders if politics suits him. If politics means losing brothers and sisters, he might not continue, as he wants to pursue constructive politics that benefit the country and remain connected to his community. He is confident that locals know well who he really is.

Additionally, Mr. Kongkiat posted on Facebook, “The Election Commission has the authority to issue a red card, but I have the right to seek justice from the Supreme Court’s Election Case Division to reclaim fairness.”
