Thanathorn campaigns in Hat Yai, promoting a policy to create 15 new regional cities. He asks parents and community members to cast two orange ballots overwhelmingly, endorses Theng Natthapong as prime minister candidate, and promises a corruption-free government if elected.
On 22 January 2026, Mr. Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, campaign assistant for the People's Party, traveled to Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, accompanied by Mr. Romadon Panjor to assist in campaigning for candidates in Songkhla and to exchange views with local stakeholders.
In the morning, Thanathorn met with local entrepreneurs to discuss plans for economic recovery and revitalization of Hat Yai following the recent major flood. He presented a policy to establish 15 new regional cities to become economic hubs in the region. Additionally, he introduced economic policies for SMEs, including startup loans, receipt lottery incentives, and the Open Commerce Network (OCN), an open platform designed to support Thai SMEs through free trade systems.
In the afternoon, Thanathorn attended the “Awaken Songkhla Orange City” event to speak with party members about the upcoming election. He noted that although the party previously lost constituency seats in Songkhla, the party-list votes ranked first in several districts. He expressed hope that this election would convince Hat Yai voters to cast both ballots for the People's Party. He highlighted that this time there would be no senators voting for prime minister, and that the last time voters' voices truly mattered was 15 years ago when election results and government formation aligned. To shape the government, the People's Party must decisively defeat the second-place party. He stressed that the election stakes are the future of Thailand: voting for other parties would lead to a Palang Pracharath-led government, but if voters want a new prime minister, the solution is to choose the People's Party.
“I ask the people to help raise their voices and share the People's Party policies with those close to them. If the People's Party becomes the government, I promise there will be no corruption. Tax money will not become private property of those in power but will be used for the benefit of the people. I entrust the future of Thailand to everyone through the election on 8 February,” Thanathorn said in his speech.
Thanathorn also told reporters that the response from the public has been very positive. Although the Move Forward Party did not win constituency seats previously, it ranked first in many districts for party-list votes. He asked for the opportunity for the People's Party to receive both ballots from voters to allow them to serve and represent the people of Hat Yai and Songkhla, and to vote for Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut from the People's Party as prime minister. Regarding Hat Yai and Songkhla, in the short term over the next 2-3 months, he sees flood recovery as a critical issue. He said the government must provide quick relief and compensation. After talks with many entrepreneurs, they agreed that assistance and relief measures have not reached the people sufficiently. He sent a message to the government that although the People's Party is in opposition, they want to use this opportunity—even as a caretaker government—to push for relief measures to reach the people urgently. He called on the prime minister and deputy ministers to promote projects to care for and restore Hat Yai; otherwise, many businesses will fail, leading to closures and layoffs. In the medium term, it is essential to restore confidence that the coming rainy season will not cause flooding. Measures for water monitoring, management, and infrastructure investment are needed to reassure residents and tourists.
Songkhla has a total of 9 electoral districts. The People's Party has fielded candidates in all districts as follows:
