On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, in Trat province, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party and prime ministerial candidate, along with party leaders including Mr. Satit Wongnongtoey and Mr. Satit Pitutecha, deputy party leaders, and Mr. Teera Salakpetch, former five-term Democrat MP for Trat, united to meet local residents at San Tung Municipal Market, Khao Saming district, Trat.
As the Democrat Party delegation arrived, locals and vendors greeted them warmly, offering marigold garlands as encouragement, cheering, and taking selfies. Mr. Abhisit thanked the people of Trat for their longstanding friendship and emphasized the importance of the upcoming election less than 20 days away, stating that the Democrat Party is determined to lead the country toward tangible change.
Mr. Abhisit also told reporters that today he met with residents in Trat, Chanthaburi, Rayong, and Chonburi, highlighting the importance of the Eastern region as a microcosm of Thailand's broader issues. He expressed a desire to see the agricultural sector upgraded, with food and fruit processing adding higher value to become a new economic engine capable of rapid growth as in the past. He wants to shift industrial production toward higher technology industries and increase income from higher-quality tourism. Nearly every province in the East faces these issues. Today provides an opportunity to discuss these matters with Eastern residents, and he hopes to gain their support to push these initiatives forward.
