Government Assures Social Security Funds of Existing Insured Remain Intact with No Loss

The government announced that the Social Security Office is accelerating phased payments of unemployment benefits to insured persons starting 20 Jan 2026. It stressed its commitment to strictly protect insured persons' legal rights and clarified that funds from the old system remain intact with no losses.

On 23 Jan 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that the government, through the Social Security Office of the Ministry of Labour, has undertaken a major digital system upgrade. They transitioned from the Mainframe system, used for over 30 years, to a Web Application system to modernize Social Security services for greater convenience and enhanced security. During this transition, it was necessary to adjust data processing for employment registration reports from the Department of Employment to the new system.

The government urged insured persons not to worry about data loss, affirming that the Social Security Office guarantees the existing insured persons' registration data remains intact and is not lost. Currently, verification and data transfer are underway to improve system efficiency and stability. The Social Security Office started phased payments of benefits to eligible insured persons from 20 Jan 2026, prioritizing those with complete data. Insured persons can check the approval status of their unemployment compensation through the Department of Employment's unemployment registration system, as detailed below.

If the status shows "Pending Review," it means the Social Security Office in Bangkok and provincial branches are currently verifying the information.

If the status shows "Reviewed/Approved," insured persons should wait for payment transfers, which are being expedited in order. Once funds are credited to the account, the amount will appear in the appointment schedule for reporting.

"The government, through the Social Security Office of the Ministry of Labour, affirms its commitment to strictly protect the legal rights of insured persons. It is facilitating and accelerating unemployment benefit payments to ensure accuracy, transparency, and inclusiveness. We emphasize that every baht remains secure and is undergoing the proper processes to ensure insured persons receive their full, correct, and fair benefits. This will help alleviate hardships and strengthen confidence in the social security system sustainably," Ms. Airin emphasized.
