Supachai demonstrated her expertise at Davos during the World Economic Forum, highlighting Thailand as a "partner to major powers" that uses its geography to link the global economy.
On 23 January in Davos, Switzerland, Supachai Sutthumpun, Minister of Commerce, emerged as a standout figure at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026. She showcased her expert vision of Thailand’s "competitive edge" in global trade, describing Thailand as the "heart of Asia" with a uniquely advantageous position that seamlessly connects the north-south economies (China-ASEAN) and the east-west economies (India-ASEAN).
Supachai revealed the key to successful negotiations is Thailand’s friendly and non-aligned stance, which is a crucial asset in today’s polarized world. Thailand has become the "partner everyone wants to engage with," whether from groups seeking to diversify away from the U.S. or those looking to pivot from China. Both focus on Thailand because it maintains neutrality and is ready to collaborate with all parties. This participation on the global stage underscores that Thailand is not only a strategic geographic location but also a strategic trust hub, ready to attract investment funds and sustainably expand trade into global markets.
