The government announced the start of compensation payments today, distributing 2.335 billion baht in aid to victims along the Thai-Cambodian border, benefiting 460,000 households across 7 provinces.
On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Siriphong Angkasungklakitti, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that after Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul ordered the expedited disbursement of aid to victims along the Thai-Cambodian border, and with the Election Commission approving the support request, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) received an additional budget allocation from the Budget Bureau. This allocation, from the fiscal year 2026 emergency reserve fund, totals 2,335,640,000 baht to cover compensation expenses for victims affected by foreign armed forces' actions in 2025. The aid targets 7 provinces initially impacted, covering 467,128 households, as approved by the Cabinet on 23 Dec 2025.
The DDPM will expedite disbursement according to the criteria, conditions, procedures, and rates established for disaster victim compensation. They will rigorously verify data for accuracy and completeness to ensure fair, thorough, and non-duplicative assistance. The goal is to provide equitable and timely relief to affected citizens while adhering to all laws, regulations, Cabinet resolutions, related circulars, and official standards at every step.
