On 23 Jan 2026 at 13:00, Chaiya Phromma, candidate number 7 for MP in Nong Bua Lamphu’s 2nd district representing the Kla Tham Party, met with Pol. Col. Kampanat Settharitikul, Superintendent of Sri Bun Rueang Police Station, and investigators to follow up on the case against the older brother of a major party MP candidate who is a competitor. The accused committed the offense of entering false information into the computer system to defame and damage Chaiya's reputation to influence election votes. This created misunderstandings about Chaiya, who has served multiple terms, by accusing him of unethical behavior, spreading falsehoods to cause hatred and harm his reputation. The act also violates the Election Act concerning defamation, false accusations, and may impact the issuance of a red card penalty.
This morning (23 Jan) at 07:30, the older brother of the major party MP candidate and his family requested a meeting to apologize for his wrongdoing and asked Chaiya to withdraw the complaint or settle. Chaiya told him that the legal action was necessary to protect his lifelong political reputation and advised them to compete respectfully in politics without resorting to dirty tactics. He expressed no grievance if they admit fault and is willing to forgive after the election ends but requested that the process proceed through the justice system for now.
