Veeradej Phipisit lamented feeling "like the world is collapsing" after an old video clip was dug up and exposed. He revealed he had been threatened even before the election and believes the clip's release aims to discredit the Prachachon Party ahead of the major election on 8 February. He appealed not to turn family matters into political playthings.
On 23 January 2026, Veeradej Phipisit, Chief Executive of the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization, spoke about the case where a malicious party released a video clip claiming it showed him physically abusing his wife. He recalled that the incident occurred two years ago with his ex-wife during their separation period when their relationship was strained, and at that time he had not yet registered to run for the Lamphun PAO chief executive position. He admitted that upon first seeing the clip, he thought of his children, as it was a painful matter. If the clip was released to prove his wrongdoing, he apologized. However, he said it now seems the family issue is being used for political gain. Some agreements are still under negotiation, and he believes personal matters should not be exploited politically, no matter who is involved.
When asked if he knew who released the video clip, Veeradej said that when he ran for the PAO election, he received messages from opponents warning that such clips existed, and he anticipated they would be released someday. He confirmed that after checking with his ex-wife, she was not the one who released the clip, although she admitted to sending it to friends. He accepted responsibility and the pain caused by its exposure, describing the act as mocking someone’s scars. He added that he and his ex-wife communicate only about their children, and that she has also been affected by the incident.
Regarding whether he would file legal action, Veeradej revealed that several people have tried to file complaints against the page that shared the clip. He said he will protect his rights because the page is trying to incite hatred. If those behind this seek political gain, their efforts might fail since only he has been affected. No political party would approve of such behavior, although many parties have worse issues that have yet to be exposed.
However, the Prachachon Party has contacted him to request he explain the matter to the party’s disciplinary committee. He said he is willing to clarify what happened on that day.
When asked if this incident affects his work as Lamphun PAO chief executive, Veeradej confirmed it does not, as he remains committed to working according to the people's policies. He did admit there might be some impact on his image and suggested that if other parties use this news to attack, it would reveal their true attitudes to the public.
"The past is painful. Yesterday felt like the world was collapsing," Veeradej said.
As for whether this incident will affect the Prachachon Party’s major rally in Lamphun, Veeradej emphasized that political differences are normal. If people want to show dislike for the Prachachon Party and vote for other parties, the public already knows which parties the page supports and opposes. He acknowledged there might be some impact but it cannot be prevented. He believes it will not affect other party activities, as the focus is on encouraging people to exercise their voting rights on 8 February by supporting the Prachachon Party and approving constitutional amendments.
