The Labour Minister is urging the Social Security Office to promptly submit the CARE pension formula to the Cabinet, affirming she is not neglecting the investigation into the Skyy9 building purchase. She pointed out that the funds belong to the insured members, not the Social Security Office, and any expenditure must be transparent.
On 23 January 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Treenuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, revealed progress on the CARE pension formula. She agreed with adjusting the old-age pension calculation to the CARE formula because it better rewards insured members who consistently contribute. She has been pushing the process continuously. The matter has passed review by the Labour Ministry’s legal committee and is now with the Social Security Office drafting ministerial regulations for her signature before Cabinet consideration, all following proper procedures.
Regarding the Social Security Office’s purchase of the Skyy9 building and the disciplinary investigation into officials involved, this occurred before she took office. She is not neglecting the matter and has had a fact-finding committee investigating for several months.
"I affirm these funds belong to the insured members, not the Social Security Office. Any spending must be correct, transparent, and verifiable. I do not favor any side nor neglect the process, but decisions must be carefully considered," the Labour Minister stated.
The Minister emphasized she does not want to connect past political events with the current situation. She has neither discussed nor interfered with any agency’s work on this matter, maintaining neutrality. However, she is ready to take full and swift legal action to build confidence among insured members and society.
