Korn criticized Pheu Thai's policy of randomly distributing 9 million baht daily, calling it a disgraceful use of taxpayers' money, highlighting that it is wasteful, lacks transparency, and sells unrealistic dreams rather than real solutions.
On 24 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Mr. Korn Jatikavanich, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, posted on his personal Facebook page criticizing Pheu Thai Party's latest policy unveiled at Siam Paragon, describing it as a disappointing measure that harms the country's fiscal system.
Mr. Korn stated that he had generally avoided criticizing other parties' policies but found this case unacceptable, posting a message that said:
“In recent days, I have met Khun Julaphan at several forums. He mentioned multiple times that he would announce a big policy tonight at the Paragon stage. I was eager to see what policy would be unveiled that benefits the country, but in the end, it was just another giveaway of taxpayers' money, and done in a disgraceful way because its economic and social impact is essentially zero.”
“This time, I deliberately avoided criticizing other parties' policies, intending to let the public judge for themselves... But this policy of randomly giving away 9 million baht daily is truly disappointing. Besides being wasteful, the method of ‘random selection’ from various groups completely lacks transparency. Ultimately, I would not be surprised if the recipients turn out to be vote canvassers or associates of Pheu Thai.”
“Previously, I saw Pheu Thai trying to adopt a new look with Dr. Yossanan’s academic style, and I thought maybe they would really change. But it’s still the same — shamelessly distributing taxpayers' money without any economic or social objectives.”
“They lost the last election despite using digital money. This time, just keep selling dreams.”
This criticism came after Pheu Thai unveiled a new economic stimulus approach widely viewed as a mechanism to “randomly” distribute financial aid. Mr. Korn pointed out that it might be ineffective in truly stimulating the economy and could undermine confidence in the country’s budget system.
