Anutin, accompanied by Ja Thananon and Pheu Thai candidates, visited Nong Bua Lamphu to pay respects to King Naresuan, marking an auspicious start before campaigning in two Isan provinces. Locals flocked to welcome them, shouting “Our beloved Prime Minister.”
25 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Pheu Thai party and prime ministerial candidate accompanied by Ms. Thananon Niramis, his wife, and Mr. Songsak Thongsri, a party leader, visited Nong Bua Lamphu and Nong Khai provinces to support Pheu Thai candidates in their parliamentary campaigns. In Nong Bua Lamphu, candidates included Mr. Suwat Montri for constituency 1, Ms. Chayanan Pimkirit for constituency 2, and Mr. Anat Chintawan for constituency 3. In Nong Khai, candidates were Pol. Lt. Gen. Paisan Luesomboon for constituency 1, Ms. Jidapha Suntornthanakul for constituency 2, and Mr. Sakda Jantrasuwan for constituency 3.
At 10:00 a.m., Mr. Anutin arrived in a black Alphard van with temporary red license plate P 2654 Bangkok to pay respects at the King Naresuan Shrine in Mueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu. Upon arrival, locals greeted him by presenting a woven palm leaf hat and tying a traditional checkered cloth around his waist. They complimented him, saying he is more handsome in person than on TV. Some shouted, “Our beloved Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul.”
Mr. Anutin then proceeded to pay respects at the King Naresuan Shrine, noting this was his first visit and that he had not realized such a shrine existed in Nong Bua Lamphu. He expressed a wish for the province to preserve and maintain it. He also visited the Nong Bua Lamphu Red Cross fish lottery booth, as the King Naresuan Shrine Red Cross fair was held from 18 to 27 January 2026. The shrine is a sacred site cherished by locals and tourists alike, who often come to pray for blessings, especially for success and harmony.
Later, Mr. Anutin and his group visited a sugar factory to meet locals and sugarcane farmers before heading to a campaign rally at 5:00 p.m. at the Naka Bek Fa Phase 2 riverside plaza in Phon Phisai Municipality, Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai. Afterwards, he continued campaigning at Lang Yang Khong Market around the Naka Bek Fa Phases 2, 3, and 4 areas.
