Thammanat Withdraws Defamation Lawsuit Against Ice and Rome Investigation Continues at Phayao City Police Station as Campaigning Resumes

Ice Rakchanok and Rangsiman Rome appeared at Phayao Provincial Court. Recently, Thammanat withdrew the defamation lawsuit, leaving only the investigation process at Phayao City Police Station before continuing their campaign. They acknowledged that winning here is not easy and appealed for votes for both the candidates and the party in Phayao.

At 16:00 on 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7, a preliminary hearing was held at Phayao Provincial Court in a defamation case involving Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP candidate for the Prachachon Party, who is the defendant. The plaintiff is Captain Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Rakchanok Srinok, also a party-list MP candidate for the Prachachon Party, received a court summons as well. She was sued for damages of 100 million baht each. However, the opposing party withdrew the lawsuit, leaving only the investigation process at Phayao City Police Station.

Outside Phayao Provincial Court, two groups of citizens gathered: supporters of the Prachachon Party and opponents holding signs stating “Phayao residents reject spoiled oranges” on the road in front of the court. There were shouts and jeers but no violence, as police maintained order, preventing any serious clashes. The two sides only expressed support or opposition vocally.

Later, Rangsiman said in an interview that he would return to Phayao as the case is not yet closed. After the interview, he went to help party members campaign in Chiang Kham District, Constituency 2.

After leaving Phayao Provincial Court, Rakchanok went to assist party members campaigning at Phayao Fresh Market in Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, and at the market near University of Phayao in Mae Ka Subdistrict. She stated that winning in Phayao is not easy but urged Phayao residents to vote for the Prachachon Party and its candidates to bring change to Phayao and Thailand. Meanwhile, locals and students requested politicians to support education and modern technology development.
