Thanathorn is confident the People’s Party will strengthen its position in Nakhon Pathom and believes the momentum is strong. He said the 2026 election could bring as many as 200 seats, dismissing analysts who rate the party as second behind Bhumjaithai.
26 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Chair of the Progressive Movement and campaign assistant for the People’s Party, said during a campaign stop in Nakhon Pathom that the People’s Party is committed to securing more strongholds than before, with opportunities in every district. He said he planned to spend the entire day supporting candidates and campaigning. He expressed confidence that the People’s Party will win more parliamentary seats in Nakhon Pathom than the former Move Forward Party had in the past.
Thanathorn also commented on the large rally held yesterday (25 January) at Samyan Mitrtown, which analysts said showed the momentum was returning. He agreed, noting that Nakhon Pathom is the 26th province he has visited since the parliament was dissolved. He said initially people were not very alert to the election, but public awareness and receptiveness to policies have improved each week. He highlighted the positive response after the party leader’s vision was presented in Bangkok yesterday, describing the feedback as lively.
Regarding analysts’ views that bringing in Pita Limjaroenrat and Thanathorn himself for the last two weeks of campaigning would only slightly increase the number of seats won, Thanathorn said these analysts have not been out in the field with him. He pointed out that at many provincial stops, public response has been increasingly positive. He explained that Pita’s recent return to Thailand was not simply to campaign but followed extensive travel worldwide to rally Thai citizens living abroad—including workers and students—in cities such as Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, and Berlin. This helped energize the Thai diaspora. After completing this work, Pita returned to Thailand and appeared on stage at yesterday’s rally, symbolizing the united effort from the Future Forward, Move Forward, and People’s parties.
On analysts’ prediction that on 8 February the People’s Party will rank second to Bhumjaithai in parliamentary seats, Thanathorn said, credible polls consistently show the People’s Party leading in popularity this time. They are targeting 200 seats and are very confident. He pointed to Nakhon Pathom as a clear example of their assured victory. Nationwide, the party expects strong support across all regions because people recognize their commitment and consistent hard work over the past eight years. This election will not yield fewer seats than the last one. .
