At 22:33 on 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Pheu Thai Party issued a statement regarding the arrest warrant for a local politician involved in an online gambling case. The party aimed to clarify facts for the public to prevent misunderstandings, specifically concerning Pathanun Chandon, a member of the Kalasin Provincial Administrative Organization Council, who is subject to the warrant in connection with the gambling case. The following facts were presented.
1. The Pheu Thai Party has confirmed that the individual was indeed a party member. The party's membership registration process is open and lawful. The party assesses applicants’ qualifications based on facts at the time of application. If no legal or party disqualifications exist and the individual has affirmed their status, they are entitled to party membership.
2. The individual was seen running for election as a member of the Provincial Administrative Organization Council while wearing clothing or symbols associated with the Pheu Thai Party. Members are permitted to do this since the individual was a genuine party member at that time. This candidacy was as a member, not officially representing the party.
3. Regarding current status, the party has verified that the individual resigned from membership prior to this and did not provide a reason for resignation. The individual is no longer a member of the party.
The party concluded with point 4: “The Pheu Thai Party reaffirms its highest commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability of political officeholders. If such cases involve current party members, the party will not ignore them but will conduct thorough, comprehensive, and straightforward investigations to clarify matters for society. It will neither protect nor favor anyone and will fully cooperate with legal procedures.”
