Julaphan, leader of Pheu Thai, visited Khlong Sam Wa district to support Jirayu's campaign, promoting a straw compactor policy for farmers. In the suburbs of Bangkok, this replaces burning to reduce PM 2.5, aiming for cleaner air for the people of Khlong Sam Wa and Bangkok.
On 28 January 2026, Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, visited Khlong Sam Wa district in Bangkok, the constituency of Mr. Jirayu Huangsub, Pheu Thai candidate for District 16, Khlong Sam Wa, number 7. Julaphan, together with party list candidates and Jirayu, met with local residents at Hathaimit Market on Hathairat Road, receiving a warm response. Shoppers at the market took photos and cheered for Jirayu Huangsub, a local son of Khlong Sam Wa, to return as the district’s Member of Parliament.
At approximately 08:30, Julaphan, accompanied by his team and Jirayu Huangsub, proceeded to rice fields along Liap Khlong Song Road in Khlong Sam Wa to observe a demonstration of the “straw compactor” machine. This policy addresses the PM 2.5 dust problem in Khlong Sam Wa residential areas. Suburban Bangkok farmers believe that compacting straw instead of burning significantly reduces pollution in Bangkok. This is a key Pheu Thai policy to tackle PM 2.5 pollution. Previously, Jirayu, as chairman of the Khlong Sam Wa Cultural Council and deputy chairman of the Bangkok Cultural Council, along with Narunamon Huangsub, a Bangkok council member for Khlong Sam Wa, have encouraged farmers in zones bordering Chachoengsao and Pathum Thani provinces to reduce post-harvest straw burning. Most have adopted the straw compactor, resulting in decreased pollution in Khlong Sam Wa, aligning with Pheu Thai’s policy to solve air pollution problems.
Mr. Jirayu, candidate number 7 for Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok, said that addressing other structural issues is crucial. Khlong Sam Wa is Bangkok’s most populous district among 50 districts, making it essential to coordinate local policies with government plans to solve traffic problems, such as adding new main roads, extending the Ram Inthra–At Narong expressway, and constructing overpasses at congested intersections—projects currently underway following Jirayu’s proposals from 2022. He also mentioned proposing the Pink Line MRT extension along Nimit Mai Road to connect with the Green Line at Lam Luk Ka, improving transportation and accommodating the growing population in Khlong Sam Wa, the district with Bangkok’s highest population.
